Novels in Verse
Knockan, a new novel-in-verse by Glasgow Makar Jim Carruth, intimately explores how heavily our lived experience can weigh upon us: in a remote corner of the west of Scotland, a crofter and her estranged daughter search for common ground over the course of a single week.
Grace Yee’s award-winning debut poetry collection Chinese Fish, meanwhile, incorporates archival, graphic and dramatic forms in a family saga that spans the 1960s through to the 1980s.
In this double bill, Jim and Grace will read from their novels-in-verse and discuss the challenges and joys of this versatile form.

Kevin will read from these alongside JL Williams, whose new collection, Strange Architectures, details her nightly dreams of buildings during lockdown. Both poets reflect on how the spaces we inhabit inform our lives.
