Strange Architecture
After being selected as a UNESCO City of Literature Writer in Residence 2025 for Prague, Kevin P. Gilday spent two months living and writing in the city, working on a poetry cycle inspired by the city’s brutalist buildings and the human stories behind them.
Reading alongside him is poet and librettist JL Williams, whose most recent collection, Strange Architectures, details her nightly dreams of buildings and architectural sites over the initial year of lockdown. In this reading chaired by Sam Tongue, both poets will reflect on how the spaces we inhabit impact and inform our lives within them.

Tracing the Shoreline

Within this year’s festival theme, The Space Between, we’re exploring shorelines, their significance, power and the threat posed by climate crisis to our coastlines. Garry Mackenzie will join us with Firth, a poetic portrait of the Firth of Forth. Alycia Pirmohamed will read from her upcoming collection, as well as her memoir, Shorelines.
