Ekphrasis: The Secret Rewards of Larceny
Join legendary poet, Kwame Dawes, in an online workshop on ekphrasis! After a discussion about the ways in which ekphrasis (the description of a work of visual art) has worked in some meaningful poetry, the group will attempt their own ekphrasis poems making use of artbooks available online. We will share poems and think about the value of the ekphrasis in pushing our poetics in new directions. Come with an open mind, a laptop and/or a notebook, and be prepared to generate new work as we enjoy and steal from great art.

Alternating bursts of writing prompts with basic sword work involving gentle and dynamic movement, this workshop will see writers parry words, cut lines and clash ideas. Bring your own notebook and pen. Swords provided!
