Working With Marginalised Groups
If you’re interested in using poetry to work with marginalised groups, don’t miss this workshop with Dr Autumn Roesch-Marsh, qualified social worker and researcher. Beginning by sharing her experience of working with care-experienced young people on a project about friendship, Autumn will support participants to think about how they themselves might devise a one off session or series of sessions to work with a marginalised group. We will reflect on beginnings, middles and endings and what is needed from facilitators at each stage, as well as considering ethical issues and how to create safer spaces for participants. We will also discuss strategies for evaluating this work.

To the Point: A Workshop with Pens and Swords

Led by spoken word artist and fight director EmmaClaire Brightlyn, this is a chance to be bold in your writing. Alternating bursts of writing prompts with basic sword work involving gentle and dynamic movement, this workshop will see writers parry words, cut lines and clash ideas. Bring your own notebook and pen. Swords provided!

Want to collaborate with musicians, but not sure where to start? This workshop with Iona Lee, poet and frontwoman of poetry-led band Acolyte, and DJ Nikki Kent has you covered. We’ll play with rhythm and tone, listening and responding, reflect on performance, experimentation and the musicality of language, and have the chance to try it all out.
