Experimenting with Words and Music

Interested in collaborating with musicians, but not sure where to start? This workshop with Iona Lee, poet, performer and frontwoman of the poetry-led band Acolyte, and DJ Nikki Kent has you covered.

We’ll be reflecting on performance, experimentation and the musicality of language, while considering how best to put words to music. Iona will lead exercises playing with rhythm and tone, listening and responding, and there’ll be plenty of opportunities for questions and feedback. We’ll end with a spoken-word cypher, giving participants the chance to give it a go themselves in a relaxed environment.
