Our friends over at Scottish Book Trust are joining us for an evening of electrifying performances. As part of this year’s New Writers Awards selection process, the shortlisted Spoken Word applicants will share their skills in front of a live audience. Hosted by Taylor Dyson, join an expert panel of judges – including Nick Makoha, Push the Boat Out’s Annie Rutherford, and Scottish Book Trust’s Éadaoín Lynch – as we cheer on Scotland’s emerging spoken word talent and discover the scene’s future headliners.

Hannah Lavery and Don Mee Choi are united by their embrace of work both playful and political. Don Mee Choi’s Freely Frayed grapples with the politics of distance and language in its exploration of anti-colonial logic and identity. Hannah Lavery’s Everything Everyday is a formally innovative poetic journal, where personal confession and public ritual converge.
