A Portobello Poetry Walk
Eleanor Rees’ writing draws on liminal places and edgelands – so who better to take us on a poetry walk along the shoreline at Portobello. Join us for a short reading in Portobello Bookshop to hear from Eleanor’s Portents and Portals: New & Selected Poems (Guillemot Press, 2024). Spanning three decades, five collections and several pamphlets, the poems in it explore place, ritual and the in-between. After that we’ll be going for a gentle walk along Portobello’s promenade, interspersed with readings and discussion, before returning to the bookshop for a signing.

In 2025, Kevin P. Gilday spent two months in Prague, writing a poetry cycle inspired by the city’s brutalist buildings. Kevin will read from these alongside JL Williams, whose new collection, Strange Architectures, details her nightly dreams of buildings during lockdown. Both poets reflect on how the spaces we inhabit inform our lives.
