Loud Poets Slam
The prestigious Loud Poets Slam Series returns for its fifth year! Join us to cheer, clap and holler as Edinburgh’s top poets compete in the first of twelve heats for the biggest prize in UK slam poetry. Featuring Josh Cake as sacrificial poet, this will be a thumping celebration of some of the best spoken word coming out of Scotland today.

I Am Loud started in 2014 as Loud Poets, a live spoken word poetry showcase. Since then they have grown into a multidisciplinary production and entertainment company while keeping live events at the heart of their work. From monthly shows to open mics, tours and festival performances, I Am Loud showcases the best of spoken word work coming out of Scotland today.

In this event, he brings together Deborah Moffatt, Tim Tim Cheng, Vahid Davar, Mae Diansangu, Paul Malgrati and Jordí Larios to present new writing interweaving Gaelic and Chinese, Spanish and Persian, French and Doric.

Join Polly Atkin and Niall O’Gallagher to discuss two collections which explore solitude and connection in a time of plague. Niall will be sharing translations from his upcoming Gaelic novella-in-verse Litreachan Plàighe (Plague Letters), while Polly will read from Emergency Dream, a collection which insistently centres disabled joy and disabled rage.
