babs nicgriogair is a stornoweegie – born in Stornoway, made in Glasgow – a strange hybrid of heathery Hebridean softness and big skies, gritty Glaswegian wit and mean streets. A member of the Greencity Wholefoods Worker Co-operative for more than 20 years, they would consider themselves (when not driving a forklift truck) as a worker-poet, a socio-political and cultural activist, most recently with Woodlands Community and Ceòl is Craic (Glasgow’s dynamic Gaelic-language arts organisation). babs gets their kicks from biking and thinking, the occasional kitchen boogie and beverage of choice with which to put the world to rights, as well as trying out tofu recipes on their son Seonaidh!
