The work of Kim Moore and Charlotte Van den Broeck is compelling, innovative and original. In this reading and discussion, chaired by Saskia McCracken, we’ll be hearing from the recent collections of both poets, which explore the female body as contested landscape.
In The House of Broken Things by the Forward Prize-winning poet Kim Moore, motherhood is transformative in all its complexity and ambivalence. Invoking the spirits of Anne Sexton, Emily Brontë, Adrienne Rich and others, Kim conjures an intimate atmosphere of haunted domesticity.
Published in David Colmer’s translation, The Inside of a Stone, the latest collection by acclaimed Belgian poet Charlotte Van den Broeck explores the emotional resonance and metaphorical relationships between desert landscapes and womanhood.
