Pippa Goldschmidt

Pippa Goldschmidt is a writer based in Edinburgh and Berlin, and she writes both literary fiction and non-fiction inspired by science. Her most recent book is Deutschstunden, a memoir/family history about living in Germany which explores the way we accommodate the past in our present – whether that past is human or cosmic. Her short story collection Schrödinger’s Wife (and other possibilities) focuses on the many and varied roles of women in science and was shortlisted for the British Science Fiction Association Awards 2024. Her essay 'Night Vision' examines the scientific and cultural meanings of outer space for humanity and was longlisted for Scotland’s National Book Awards 2024. Her short stories, poetry and non-fiction have been published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies including the Times Literary Supplement, New Writing Scotland, Gutter, the Frankfurter Rundschau and the New York Times, as well as broadcast on BBC Radio 4. pippagoldschmidt.co.uk
